Every room has specific acoustic characteristics that greatly impact the sound performance of a room. This can be added boominiess or bass drop off point. It can cause echos, vibrations, and other aberrations. Room correction is the process of compensating for these abnormalities and normalize the acoustics of a room. In the good ol’ days that was done by using an equalizer. Now this is integrated into certain components such as a receiver or is a stand-alone component that uses computers and a microphone to digitally correct the room. On the whole, room correction is an effective means to make non-ideal listening environments sound much better.
