There is no such thing as a true “wireless” speaker. Speakers need both signal and power. In traditional non-powered speakers this consists of a twisted pair of speaker wire connecting the speaker with the amplifier. There are speakers that transmit audio signal wirelessly by using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, but these speakers still use a power cord connected to a standard electrical outlet. Until recently, few solutions have provided hi-fidleity sound in a wireless solution. That has recently changed as wireless standards and technologies have permitted higher quality transmissions. Companies such as NAD and Sonos have products that offer “wireless” convenience with wired quality.
